At 170m high with 33 levels of premium A-grade office space, 4 Parramatta Square provides accommodation to commercial and retail tenancies. Primarily comprising premium office space, the tower was the first building completed in Walker’s Parramatta Square Precinct.

McGregor was engaged by the principal builder Built Obayashi to assist with managing the 2,000 tonnes of Structural Steel required to build the Jump Start structure which formed the critical path of the building programme.

McGregor produced detailed programmes to plan the steel life cycle through design, fabrication, transportation and erection. In turn McGregor spent extensive time in the factory working with the Steel Fabricator, GFC Industries, to help expedite the fabrication and transportation process. 4D models produced by McGregor were used extensively by the team to visualise the piece by piece erection methodology and to ensure the building could be safely constructed.

McGregor successfully integrated Digital Engineering with traditional construction work methods to help the team successfully complete the Jump Start steel on programme, which in turn set the project up for successful completion.

McGregor’s scope included:

  • Structural Steel Construction Management
  • Structural Steel Tracking
  • Detailed Planning/Programming
  • 4D Construction Methodologies
  • 3D Modelling
